But how do you keep your ceramic kitchen sink looking as good as the day it is fitted? We’ve pulled together a complete guide to how to clean a ceramic sink and some top tips for ceramic sink care to help you keep your sink looking good.

What Makes Ceramic Sinks Popular?

One of the top things that makes ceramic sinks popular is their visual appeal. This makes keeping a ceramic sink clean even more important. Ceramic kitchen sinks are also heat resistant up to 1200℃ making them perfect for busy homes where pots and pans from the hob or even casserole dishes from the oven can be placed straight onto the sink. They are also very hygienic and nonporous with an ultra-smooth surface that makes them easy to keep clean.   When it comes to cleaning your ceramic sink, they are also resistant to all household chemicals including neat bleach as well as being resistant to impact, cutlery will not scratch the surface with normal everyday use.

How to Clean a Ceramic Sink

When it comes to ceramic sink care, these are our top tips for how to clean a ceramic sink.
  • For daily or regular cleaning, simply use a soft sponge, a little washing-up liquid and warm water to gently wipe down the surface
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners such as aggressive mixer tap cleaners or scouring agents, they will dull the surface of your ceramic kitchen sink basin
  • For a weekly or bi-weekly deep clean, gently clean your sink with diluted bleach to keep its original colour and sheen
  • Avoid using steel brushes on your sink basin. These don’t work well with ceramic-type sinks and can cause visual damage
  • In terms of washing-up bowls, try to use one with a soft base in order to avoid damage to your ceramic basin
Just remember to always dry your sink with a soft cloth such as a microfibre cloth after use to keep it looking shiny and mark-free.

How to Remove Tough Stains From a Ceramic Sink

There are some quick and easy ways to remove tough stains from ceramic sinks. If you are struggling with mineral deposits or scaling, mix three parts hot water and one part white vinegar, then soak the surface of your ceramic sink to remove mineral deposits and scaling marks. For aluminium marks caused by pots and pans in your sink, a paste such as ‘Shiny Sink’ or ‘Astonish’ paste will remove any dark stains.
