You’ve already decided you want a NEFF Slide & Hide oven. Smart choice. But then you start looking at the actual models and hit a wall of alphanumeric codes: B4ACF1AN0B, B54CR31G0B, B64CS71G0B. Suddenly what felt like a straightforward decision becomes a research project.
You’re not alone. NEFF’s naming system isn’t exactly intuitive. The difference between an N50, an N70 and an N90 isn’t always obvious from a spec sheet.
So we’ve written this guide to cut through it clearly, model by model. Then you can make the right call for your kitchen, your cooking habits, and your budget.
If you’re still in the “should I even get a Slide & Hide?” stage, our post on why everyone loves the NEFF Slide & Hide oven covers the history and the basics. This post assumes you’re already convinced – and just want to know which one to choose.
One more thing worth saying upfront: at New Design Kitchens in Cannock, we’re a NEFF MasterPartner®. That means we have specialised knowledge of NEFF ovens. We have several on display in our showroom. You can come in, open the Slide & Hide door yourself. Then feel how the mechanism operates, and speak to people who sell and fit these ovens every single day. That’s a harder thing to find than you might think.
How the NEFF single oven range is structured
NEFF organises its built-in ovens into three tiers: N50, N70 and N90. The number reflects where the model sits in the range – higher number, more features. What’s important to know is that all three tiers include the Slide & Hide door. This isn’t a premium-only feature. Whether you spend at the lower end or the top of the range, you get the same retractable door that disappears smoothly beneath the oven cavity.
What changes as you move up the range is:
- The display
- The number of cooking functions
- The cleaning technology
- The smart connectivity options.
Here’s the quick version before we go into detail:
| N50 | N70 | N90 | |
| Slide & Hide door | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Controls | Dial | 3.7″ touch TFT | 4.1″ touch TFT |
| Cooking functions | Up to 8 | Up to 14 | Up to 14+ |
| Cleaning | Catalytic | Catalytic or Pyrolytic | Catalytic or Pyrolytic |
| Home Connect app | ✗ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Voice control | ✗ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Steam cooking | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ (select models) |
Now let’s look at what each tier actually means in practice.
The N50: everything you need, nothing you don't
The N50 is the entry point into the NEFF Slide & Hide range – and entry point doesn’t mean compromise. You still get CircoTherm®, NEFF’s fan-assisted heat distribution technology that circulates air evenly across every shelf level. You still get the Slide & Hide door. You still get NEFF build quality and a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
What you give up is the touchscreen interface. The N50 uses a traditional double dial for control. Which plenty of people actively prefer – it’s immediate, tactile, and you never have to navigate a menu to change the temperature. The range is available in Graphite Grey and Stainless Steel, and the cooking functions cover everything most households cook day to day.
The model we stock is the N50 B4ACF1AN0B, and it’s a genuinely capable oven.
Who is the N50 for?
Someone who wants the Slide & Hide experience without the touchscreen technology. A buyer who values simplicity and reliability over smart features. It also makes strong sense as a second oven in a kitchen with a double configuration. Or for anyone replacing an older NEFF on a tighter budget without wanting to sacrifice the door they love.
The N70: the one most people choose
If you ask most NEFF specialists – including us – which single oven they’d put in their own kitchen, the N70 is usually the answer. It hits the sweet spot between capability, usability and value. And the step up from the N50 is more meaningful than the price difference might suggest.
The first thing you notice is the display. The N70’s 3.7-inch full touch TFT screen is a genuine upgrade. It’s clear, responsive, and makes navigating cooking programmes far more intuitive than scrolling through dials. You can set a timer, check residual heat, and adjust temperature all without pressing a single physical button. The Oven Assistant with voice control means you can also just ask it, “set to 180 degrees for 45 minutes”, and it responds.
The N70 also expands to 14 cooking functions, which sounds like a lot until you understand what they actually do in practice:
- CircoTherm® is NEFF’s signature fan oven mode. Heat circulates evenly across all shelf levels. This means you can bake a tray of cookies, a loaf of bread and a tray of vegetables simultaneously without anything tasting of anything else. It’s the mode you’ll use most.
- Circo-Roasting combines fan heat with the grill element. Ideal for achieving that crisp skin on a chicken or crackling on a joint of pork while keeping the inside moist.
- Low Temperature Cooking is slow cooking made simple. It holds the oven at a gentle, consistent heat over a long period. Perfect for resting meat, cooking pulled pork, or preparing beef that genuinely melts.
- Dough Proving maintains exactly the right warm environment for bread dough to rise properly. If you bake, this alone is worth something.
- Full Width Grill and Half Width Grill let you choose how much of the grill element to activate. Half width for cheese on toast, full width for browning a whole tray.
The N70 also connects to the Home Connect app. This lets you preheat the oven remotely and receive notifications when it reaches temperature. You can also monitor cooking time remaining, and even save your favourite settings. It’s useful rather than gimmicky – particularly if you regularly start dinner before you’ve left work.
On cleaning, the N70 range splits into two options. Catalytic cleaning uses a special porous enamel lining that absorbs grease at high temperatures, reducing the build-up over time. Pyrolytic cleaning – available on the N70 B54CR71G0B – superheats the oven to around 480°C. It burns all residue to ash, which you simply wipe away. If you want the full self-cleaning story, our guide to NEFF pyrolytic cleaning explains exactly what it does (coming soon) and whether the price difference is worth it.
The N70 single ovens we stock include:
- N70 B59CR7KY0B – the core N70 model with full touch display and Home Connect
- N70 B54CR71G0B – adds pyrolytic self-cleaning for effortless maintenance
- N70 B54CR31G0B – EcoClean catalytic option with the same touch display and smart features
Who is the N70 for? Genuinely, most people.
If you:
- Cook regularly
- Want app connectivity care about the display
- Want the option of a cleaner oven without scrubbing,
The N70 delivers everything at a price that’s hard to argue with. It’s also the oven range that features on The Great British Bake Off. The N90 is used on the current series, but the N70 represents the same cooking philosophy.

The N90: for those who want the very best
The N90 is NEFF’s flagship single oven, and the differences from the N70 are meaningful rather than marginal. Particularly if you cook seriously.
The display upgrades to a 4.1-inch full touch TFT screen with a slightly larger interface. It also has a Favourite Function button that saves your most-used settings for one-tap access. The cooking modes expand further, and the air distribution improves from 3D HotAir to 4D HotAir. This means consistent heat circulation across four shelf levels rather than three. Most households cooking for two to four people, this distinction rarely matters in practice. For someone regularly cooking across a full oven load, it’s noticeable.
The headline feature on the top N90 models is Vario Steam. This introduces moisture into the cooking environment. This changes the results for certain foods in ways that are genuinely difficult to achieve without it.
- Bread that develops a proper crust while staying airy inside.
- Fish that retains moisture rather than drying out.
- Vegetables that keep their colour and texture.
If you bake bread regularly, steam cooking is transformative.
The N90 B64CS71G0B also adds pyrolytic cleaning as standard. This is the full self-clean cycle that reduces everything in the oven to a fine ash. Combined with the larger display, 4D HotAir and Vario Steam, it makes for a complete package that leaves nothing to want.
Our N90 single oven models include:
- N90 B69VY7MY0 – Vario Steam Function with Slide & Hide
- N90 B69FS5CY0A – Intensive Steam with Slide & Hide, for the most serious home cooks
Who is the N90 for?
A keen home cook who wants the full capability of what a built-in oven can do. Someone designing a kitchen that will be used hard and wants appliances that match that ambition. Anyone who bakes bread, cooks fish regularly, or simply wants to invest once and not compromise.
Single or double - worth asking yourself first
Before committing to a single oven, it’s worth considering whether what you actually need is a double. A NEFF single oven at 71 litres is a generous cavity. More than enough for a full Sunday roast with side dishes, a whole turkey, or a multi-level bake. For most households cooking for one to four people, it does everything.
Where a double oven starts to make sense is when you:
- Regularly cook for larger groups
- Want to run two completely different temperatures at the same time
- Want the flexibility of a smaller top cavity for everyday meals and a larger bottom cavity for the serious cooking.
If that sounds like you, our guide to NEFF Slide & Hide double ovens (coming soon) covers the full range in the same detail as this post.
Come and see it for yourself
There is genuinely no substitute for opening the door yourself.
You can read about the Slide & Hide mechanism as many times as you like. You can watch videos of it sliding away, and study comparison tables from here to Sunday. But the first time you push that door down and watch it disappear cleanly beneath the cavity. Then feel how softly it opens and closes. And realise how much more space you suddenly have in front of the oven – that’s when you understand why people choose this over anything else.
At our Cannock showroom, we have several NEFF ovens on display. Our team are NEFF MasterPartner® specialists, which means they’ve been trained directly by NEFF. They’ve seen every model in the range, and they’ll take the time to understand how you actually cook before making a recommendation. No pressure, no scripts – just honest advice from people who know these appliances inside out.
